The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has emerged as the favourite among women and first-time voters in the 2020 Delhi assembly election, shows the India Today-Axis My India exit poll.
Most people who voted for the AAP and were polled in the survey said they were voting for the party on account of its good work on ground in the past five years. The survey found that there is a "strong pro-incumbency", particularly on account of schemes like free water and electricity.
Among women, the Arvind Kejriwal government's decision of giving free bus and metro tickets was quite popular, the survey found.
The India Today-Axis My India exit poll found that women voters favour the AAP more than men by 6 percentage points.
Youth, students and first-time voters formed a majority of the voters who voted for the Aam Aadmi Party in the 2020 Delhi elections.
Our exit poll showed that 37 per cent of AAP supporters said development was the main election issue in the Delhi election, 17 per cent inflation, 14 per cent unemployment and only 6 per cent said national security was a major issue in this election.
The exit poll found that in many seats though people are unhappy with the local AAP MLA, they are willing to vote for AAP because of Arvind Kejriwal.
Overall speaking, the exit poll predicts the Aam Aadmi Party to secure 59 per cent votes of women voters in Delhi, while the BJP is likely to get 43 per cent and the Congress just four per cent.
